Couple Photoshoot at Lake Kawaguchiko | Mount Fuji Photography

On the 12th of October, I had the trekked up to the picturesque Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi, to photograph Mount Fuji for the third time now!  I had the pleasure of shooting a session for a newlywed couple from Singapore against this iconic backdrop.

We began our day at the Tenku No Torii red gate. For those unfamiliar, this spot is one of the most sought-after locations for photos at Mount Fuji, it’s definitely not the easiest to get to, but really worth it when you do. It was imperative we get there early, just before the tourist rush, to capture the couple in moments of tranquillity, with the gate seemingly serving as a portal to the vastness of Mount Fuji. Though it was a sunny day, a cluster of clouds played peek-a-boo with the peak.

As the first rays of the sun began warming up the day, we headed over to Oishi Park. By 9 am, the park was already bustling with activity. Tourists, fellow photographers, and nature enthusiasts were converging at this popular spot. And so, even amid the crowd, the couple from Singapore found their intimate moments, and I was there to capture them.

Photography at Mount Fuji is not just about the imposing peak itself. It's about the surrounding beauty – the shimmering Kawaguchiko waters, the whispering trees of Oishi Park, and the serene presence of structures like Tenku No Torri.

That day, as the couple posed, laughed, and sometimes just stood looking into each other's eyes, I was reminded of why I chose to be a photographer at Mount Fuji. The landscape doesn't just offer a backdrop; it participates in the story, adding layers of depth and emotion.

For those considering a photo session in the area, there's a magic in Kawaguchiko, a charm at Tenku No Torii, and a peace in Oishi Park. Mount Fuji and its surroundings never cease to inspire, and on that day in October, it served as the canvas to a love story that I was honored to capture.
