Photoshoot During Autumn at Mount Fuji

Autumn is one of the best seasons for a photoshoot with Mount Fuji, thanks to its crisp air, stunning fall foliage, and improved visibility. If you’re looking for vibrant colors and clear views, this season offers some of the most breathtaking backdrops.

Pros

Stunning Autumn Foliage – The fiery reds, oranges, and yellows of momiji (maple trees) and golden ginkgo leaves create a rich, warm-toned contrast against Fuji. Peak foliage typically occurs from late October to mid-November around the Five Lakes area.

Clearer Views of Mount Fuji – Autumn brings drier air and less humidity, meaning Fuji is visible more often compared to summer. Early mornings (6-9 AM) still offer the best clarity.

Comfortable Temperatures – With temperatures ranging from 10-20°C (50-68°F), autumn is neither too hot nor too cold, making it perfect for outdoor sessions.

Golden Hour Magic – The softer autumn light and earlier sunset (around 5:00 PM) create a dreamy, golden atmosphere for photos.

Cons & Considerations

Unpredictable Weather – While generally stable, autumn can bring sudden temperature drops, wind, or rain, especially in late November. Dressing in layers is key.

Tourist Crowds – The combination of Fuji, autumn colors, and pleasant weather makes this one of the busiest seasons for visitors. Popular locations like Chureito Pagoda and Maple Corridor at Lake Kawaguchi can be crowded, so weekday or sunrise sessions are best.

Shorter Days – With the sun setting earlier, evening light disappears quickly. Sessions should be scheduled for early morning or early afternoon.
