Important things to remember when booking a photoshoot in Kyoto

Kyoto is a stunning place to capture your special moments , and although it’s one of my favourite places to take photos in Japan, there are a few things I wanted to highlight before booking your photoshoot here.

  1. Don’t book a shoot on the weekend.

Take it from our experience, but even shoots done early in the morning can have some other photographers or tourists in the background of your shots. Kyoto is generally known to get quite busy, but especially so on the weekends, as this is when the locals and other Japanese from the rest of the country come to visit the city. If there is absolutely no way you can have your photoshoot on any other day, I highly recommend shooting no later than sunrise, regardless of location. If this is the case, myself or my associate photographers will charge an accommodation fee next to your shoot location (approx $80) as public transportation isn’t always guaranteed.

2. Shooting at Arashiyama Bamboo Forest

Regardless of the day of the week, shooting at Arashiyama bamboo forest, can get busy through out the day.  If you do choose to shoot at this location, the best time to shoot would be at sunrise Monday - Friday. You can get some great photos at this location, but to avoid the crowds you want to go early morning, in the middle of the week to do so.

3. Shooting at Fushimi Inari

The beautiful red gates at Fushimi Inari make an iconic photo, but trust us when we take you around the shrine, as there are a few hidden gems.  The best time to take photos in this location would be early morning Monday - Friday. We have had instances where taking photos in the afternoon has also been fine, as long as it’s not on a Saturday or Sunday! Otherwise it is almost impossible to get photos of you with the gates, without other people in your shots.
